“Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”       I said, “Here I am. Send me.”        Isaiah 6:8  NLT

Life-Long Student – Adamic/Edenic Covenant

God has made covenants with men throughout time, beginning with the Adamic/Edenic covenant, Noahic covenant, Abrahamic covenant, Mosaic covenant, Davidic covenant and the New and Everlasting covenant.

“Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life.” And that is what happened.”   Genesis 1:26-28, 30 NLT

“But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.””Genesis 2:16-17 NLT

In the Edenic Covenant, God invites Adam and Eve to rule over his creation. But there are certain elements of the covenant to be followed.

Mankind (male and female) created in God’s image.
Mankind’s dominion (rule) over the animal kingdom.
Divine directive for mankind to reproduce and inhabit the entire Earth.
Mankind to be vegetarian.
Eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil forbidden (with death as the stated penalty).

Adamic Covenant (God’s Dispensation of Grace, at the time of Jesus Christ’s appearance)

“Then he said to the woman, “I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.” And to the man he said, “Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.””      Genesis 3:16-17, 19 NLT

Adam and Eve failed at their first test of covenant faithfulness. Adam’s sin resulted in the following curses being pronounced on mankind by God.

Enmity between Satan and Eve and her descendants.
Painful childbirth for women.
Marital strife.
The soil cursed.
Introduction of thorns and thistles.
Survival to be a struggle.
Death introduced.
Death will be the inescapable fate of all living things.

However, the Living God, because of his infinite grace and mercy, made a way and promised mankind a reconciliation through the very First Gospel in the Bible.

“And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.””Genesis 3:15 NLT

The one born (Jesus Christ) of the woman’s seed would be wounded in the process of destroying Satan.
