“Then I heard the Lord asking,“ Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”      I said, “Here I am. Send me. ”           Isaiah 6:8 NLT

Warmup Question: Who would you say is righteous in his or her own right?

Bible Study – Pursue Righteousness and a Godly Life

Who lived a more righteous life than Jesus? No one. Righteousness is becoming more and more like God’s Son, Jesus Christ, every day. Because when God looks at us, He should see his son.

Jesus Christ commands his followers to pursue righteousness. The Apostle Paul encourages his “Son in the Faith”, Timothy, to pursue righteousness and a godly life.

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”  Matthew 6:33 NLT

“But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.”    1 Timothy 6:11-12

“God blesses those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.” Matthew 5:6 NLT

”But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”
John 1:12-13 NLT
