LifeIsaiah 6:8 NLT  Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”        I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

Christian Skill – Hospitality

God emphasizes the importance of hospitality, urging believers to welcome strangers, treat others with kindness, and show compassion to those in need.

Hospitality is widely recognized as a vital spiritual practice and can be seen as a manifestation of other spiritual gifts, like serving and mercy, while enabling individuals to create welcoming environments and fostering community.

Hospitality is an important aspect of Evangelism. Friends, family, and strangers can relate to a hospitable person quickly and permanently.

Abraham and the Three Strangers

Genesis 18:1-8 NIV  The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby.

When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. He said, “If I have found favor in your eyes, my Lord, do not pass your servant by. Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree.

Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way—now that you have come to your servant.”

“Very well,” they answered, “do as you say.”

So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. “Quick,” he said, “get three seahs of the finest flour and knead it and bake some bread.” Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant, who hurried to prepare it. He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them.

While they ate, he stood near them under a tree.”

Hospitality Lesson from Jesus

Matthew 25:35-40 NIV  For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”

Second Part of the Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22:34-40 NIV  ““Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?   “Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.””

We must follow the second part of the Great Commandment.
