Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”         I said, “Here I am. Send me.”   Isaiah 6:8  NLT

NewBorn Believer Lesson – Holy Baptism Script

The Hebrew Bible translated into the Greek word for baptism, baptizo, means “to immerse”, “plunge into” or, “put into”.  Baptism by immersion symbolizes being buried with Christ and rising in life. Note: The Bible never describes baptism with the “imagery of sprinkling”.

Baptismal Script

Ask, “Have you accepted Jesus as your personal savior?”

When they say yes, grasp their arm with one hand and say, “Because of your faith in Jesus and in obedience of His command, I baptize you, (BELIEVER’S NAME), in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

Lower the person backward into the water … and raise him up.

 Verses

Matthew 3:16  ‘“After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.””

John 3:23  At this time John the Baptist was baptizing at Aenon, near Salim, because there was plenty of water there; and people kept coming to him for baptism.”

Acts 8:38-39  As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?” He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away. The eunuch never saw him again but went on his way rejoicing.”

Romans 6:3-5  Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.”
